Reading for Nov. 2nd

Please read Strayer 491-495. Other than that, have a great Halloween weekend. Great job on the exam. I know how hard you all studied, and it shows.

Exam Friday - 10/29/10

Just a reminder that our first quarter exam will be held on Friday. I have pasted a link to the review sheet below in case you need to access it. Remember that I will select 12 id. terms, two short essays and one long essay to include on the exam.

exam 1 review sheet

Homework - due 10/25

Please read Strayer, 467-477 and Reilly, 649-655. There is no guided reading question this weekend; focus your energy on revising your rough draft. Remember that it is due on Monday. Your essay should be two to three pages long (that means onto the third page, but not onto the fourth) and should be typed, double-spaced, with 1" margins, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, and not include extra spaces between paragraphs. Thank you; that is all.

Homework - due Thursday, Oct. 21st

Please read Strayer, 461-467 and Reilly, 626-636. Answer the following question in a one-paragraph comment:

Why did Christian missionaries have a hard time penetrating China?

Reading for Tuesday, Oct. 19th

Please read Strayer, 449-458 and Reilly, 609-625. That is a lot of reading, so we will not have any other assignments due. However, please be prepared to discuss the readings in depth.

Homework - due Friday, Oct. 15

Please read Strayer, 442-448 and Reilly, 483-492, and answer the following question in one paragraph:

Explain the differences between the sources that describe cities in Asia, Egypt and Mexico. What are the implications of the origin of these sources on the cities they describe?

Reading and paper due Wednesday, Oct. 13

Please read Strayer,433-442 & Reilly, 472-483. Also, remember that the rough draft of the paper is due. Hopefully you have a good sense of the direction you'll take already. But if you get stuck wondering if you're on the right track, take a second look at the first paragraph on Reilly p. 456. Good Luck!

Homework - due Friday, Oct. 8th

Since we will not hold class this Wednesday, please complete the reading due then for Friday (Strayer, 421-429; Reilly, 455-472). In addition, please create a 1-2 page outline of Strayer and be prepared to work with your peers to present a segment of the reading to the class in a lecture format. Bring this assignment to class in a hard copy. You will have a small amount of time to prepare in small groups at the beginning of class.
